Detailed Information Description
This Ca. 1860 Carriage Makers Rebate T-Rabbet plane is marked on toe: Routledge Late Thomas 23 Bull Street, Birmingham on toe but it is over stamped by many owner names. On the heel it has several owner names stamped again. The T-Rabbet plane measures approximately: 6-1/2″ L x 3-1/4″ H x 1-5/8″ W. The original cutter is marked V. Sorby, its pitted & rusted, but clean enough to start using. It measures: 7-1/2″ L x 1-5/8″ W. (Note: the cutter measures 1/8″ wider than the sole of the plane). I always suggest a good honing to bring it back to optimal performance. It is in “AS FOUND” USED condition. The plane has minor scars from use & age. The wedge is original. The plane has a satin finish, feel and patina.
