This Stanley Defiance #1204 bench plane has been taken apart and cleaned slightly, preserving its integrity and patina. The plane’s japanning is in used condition, showing some minor loss and scars. The knob and tote are in good condition with only few scars but no cracks or repairs.It weighs 2 lb 12 ozs. The plane measures 9-1/4″ x 2-1/8″. The sole and cheeks have minor pitting and scratches but have cleaned up well. The cutter has the DEFIANCE Made in USA logo it measures: 6-1/4″ x 1-13/16″. It weighs 2lbs 12oz. This definitely was the “go to” work horse bench plane. This Stanley Defiance makes a pretty decent scrub plane, although it has a chip breaker so may work as a very light smoother. I always suggest sharpening the cutter to get it back to an optimal cutting edge.
