Detailed Information Description
This is a fine example of a 19th Century felling axe with blacksmith touchmark. It is in good condition for its age and use. It has a blacksmith touchmark & name but hard to read or determine the era or origin. The large head has been waxed, it shows typical wear, rust and pitting. The cutting edge needs sharpening. It measures 5-1/2″W. Head measures: 9″ W x 5-1/2 H. Eye measures: 2-5/8″ x 1-7/8 “. Overall tip to tip length is 24-1/2”. Total weight of axe with handle is 6 lbs 6oz. The handle has wear, hairlines, cracks & nicks but tight and secure. It is in “as found” condition. It has a nice feel and great patina. A fine 19th Century primitive axe.
